Access to Breighton
Note, that although we are welcome at Breighton, access is only possible by becoming a member of their Museum Club. This costs £25.00 per annum (about £5.00 per fly-in) and you can bring friends and family along too and visit any weekend, not just on the fly-in dates. Access to all areas is allowed for logging and photograping the aircraft. See www.realaero.com for further details

Ports of Call and Google Earth
Google Earth Map Download - Clarification
The current instructions
for downloading the Ports of Call Google Earth Map have resulted in some
confusion when you are faced with a page of coding. A revision is being
considered. In the meantime, follow these steps:
- click the globe icon
on the main Ports of Call page
- click the globe icon on the Google Earth map
Download page. You will get a page full of html coding starting with
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
ignore the coding,
just
- click "File"
- click "Save Page as"
- a dialogue box opens for
you to choose which folder you want to save the file "ukairfields.kml" in
(e.g. "My Documents")
- choose the folder that you want to save it in, then
click "Save"
- either close the page of html coding or click the 'back' arrow
of your browser twice to return to the main Ports of Call page
- go into
the folder you chose (e.g. "My Documents")
- double-click
"ukairfields.kml"
If you have done this, Google Earth should open and
display the UK full of coloured markers. The airfields are listed
down the side. Those with additional notes under them are underlined. You
can double-click any airfield name in the list - it doesn't have to be
underlined - to have the map zoom into that
airfield.
Enjoy.
Any problems, please advise us on pocmapping@laasdata.com
Ports of Call, Websites
PORTS OF CALL WEBSITE ADDITIONS
Internet links to local spotters websites and guides to locations to spot from, are now being added to airfield pages.
If you know of any that can be added to those already included, could you please send them to pocmapping@laasdata.com
Ports of Call update
Three new developments have recently been added to the Ports of Call pages of this website:
(see also further development regarding websites at bottom of section)
1. An ‘Airfield Search’ box has been added to make it easier to find an airfield using part of the name e.g. searching for ‘Cater’ will give 3 possible airfields at Caterham, or where a similar name is attached to different airfields e.g. searching for ‘Manor Farm’ will give a list of 22 possible airfields to select from.
2. A Google Earth map can be downloaded to show the location of 920 airfields, together with the number of aircraft based there and whether an airfield is a dedicated one for gliders, helicopters, microlights or autogyros, or has a relatively large proportion of such types.
3. A set of 920 airfield locations (the same ones on the Google Earth map) for downloading onto a TomTom satnav to enable an airfield to be selected for automatic driving directions. Note that the airfield position is not that of the entrance but a point on the runway so you need to check the map on the airfield page of the website to make the necessary final corrections for your journey.
Please read the accompanying notes for the map and TomTom developments when you use them.
We would be grateful for any comments, criticisms, suggestions that you may have on the Google earth map e.g its presentation, clarity or usefulness of the different features. Similarly for the TomTom data, and if you have a different satnav e.g a Garmin, and would like to help us to provide a file that works with that satnav then please let us know.
This is the first issue of these developments and we have some ideas for further developments but we need to know what you really want. If you have ideas on how these developments can be improved, or ideas for other airfield information that would be useful to you and fellow enthusiasts, please let us know, at pocmapping@laasdata.com.

Access to Solent Flight / Lower Upham Airfield
Hi all,
Regards to enthusiasts at Lower Upham airfield and the recent events, we have made a few changes. After talking to the owner it has been decided that it is unfair that one 'prat' should ruin it for everyone else who has an interest in aviation. With this in mind, we have set up an email address and request that anybody that wishes to visit will contact us beforehand.Emails are checked every hour and there will be no need to wait for a reply but insist that you make yourself known to a member of Solent Flight staff beforewandering around the hanger. Please do not be upset if permission is refused on the odd occasion, as there could well be work in progress on an aircraft, but we will accomodate as much as possible.
There will be, over the summer, a few more aircraft arriving for minor work, albeit only for short periods of time, and more visitors, which we will keep you informed. As regards to the Taylorcraft, we still wish that you contact Darren first as they are not always going to be on site due to work progressing fast.
Upon entering the car park the proper and ONLY entry is to turn left before the main gate and follow the path around the left hand side of the hanger.Solentflight offices are behind the hanger and will always have someone to speak to.Obviously if another person walks across an active apron, or even worse the runway, then a name will be taken and if found to be on this list he/she will be responsible for a blanket ban.
Email address is lowerupham@gmail.com Heres hoping this is a sensible solution to what has happened.
Current resident list is as follows:-
G-CGTA Taylorcraft BC-12 65 2598
G-CGTB Taylorcraft BC-12D 8054
